House Boating

Our sweet friends, Brynn and Jeremy Chatfield, invited us out to their family's house boat for Memorial Day. It was a perfectly beautiful day and the best part was that the boat launch for Lake Oroville is just 15 minutes down the road from us. Perfect! Our kids had such a blast jumping in the lake over and over and over, kayaking, paddle boating, and splashing around with their buddies.
The Croshaws came too! It was an awesome day.
The only thing to keep Boston happy was pretty much by giving him snacks the whole time... That's typical. :) Pete helped out by sharing his snacks.

The two little munchkins: Boston and Delynn

 Ryan's cannon ball was intense.

We were so proud of how quickly Grace and Logan picked up kayaking.

It was pretty peaceful hanging out with the adults on the houseboat while the kids were out doing their thing. It was awesome actually! I even headed out with a kayak myself and Ryan was able to get Boston to sleep.

SO MUCH FUN!! We are so thankful for good friends who include us and make us feel loved.

Silver Dollar Fair

The last weekend of May was the Silver Dollar Fair in Chico. We had never been before so the kids were super excited to check it all out! Ryan got off of work a little bit early so we could go down on friday right when they opened up in the afternoon. We were able to have the kids ride a few rides and play a couple games before it got busy.
Look at these cuties! Gosh I love them.

Sayin' hi to the goat cousins! he he he
Grace got to "walk on water" on this big bubble. It was hilarious to watch her try to get it to move while getting knocked over a hundred times. She had a blast!

Family Fun and New Friends

On sundays we really enjoy watching the live broadcast of Music & The Spoken Word. It helps me feel closer to "home" (church headquarters, Salt Lake City) and gets us in the mood for Sacramento meeting. Ryan snagged this photo of us all watching it one sunday.
Our buddies, the Croshaws, had us over for a quick Family Home Evening swim. We are lucky to have such wonderful friends.
Boston had a blast splashing around in the pool and trying to chase their dogs!
We recently purchased a new bike for Grace (one with gears), and Ryan and I each got one as well. Logan got Grace's old bike. We are loving all of our bike riding lately!
These two were being silly with my phone and I ended up with a bunch of selfies like this! Sometimes they're buddies...
Dad wrestling sessions are always the best!
Logan quite often falls asleep while reading his books in bed at night. It's adorable!
Grace and Logan have been taking gymnastics for the last couple of months and they are absolutely loving it. I caught a few photos of Grace's class when they were striking their poses.
Grace finally got a summer cut and she and I both LOVE it!

Ryan has been spending so much time out in the yard cleaning things up. Our neighbors have all stopped by lately to compliment us on how nice everything is looking. He has pulled out yucky bushes, put in new bushes and rocks, covered the garden area with new mulch, regrew grass in the patches that were struggling, and power-washed the moss off the sidewalks.

Siblings and their rocks...
Boston is enjoying his new water table! It's perfect for him and he loves splashing around.

At gymnastics class we met a super cute family whose kids are my kids' ages. We have loved getting to know them! We invited them (and their dad) to our house for a backyard pizza party a couple of weeks ago. Boston and Lincoln are 2 months apart in age.
Logan and Layla are the cutest friends! And Grace and Alanna are buddies.

Highlands Ranch Resort

Since Ryan and I weren't able to celebrate our anniversary the week-of, we scheduled a date night on the 19th - even had a babysitter lined up. But a couple days before our date, my good friend Jess, whose daughter is our babysitter, offered to have our kids sleep at their house while we got away for the night. We jumped on the opportunity and booked a cottage at the Highlands Ranch resort. It's this beautiful little resort in a gorgeous meadow about 90 minutes north east of Chico. We left at 4pm on friday, go the kids settled, stayed the night, and got home the next day at noon. VERY fast, but so needed and worth it! It was a beautiful drive once we got a little higher in elevation. There was in snow on the peaks!

We had a reservation for dinner at the lodge's restaurant.

Ryan got a Rib Eye steak and I ordered an incredibly yummy pasta. Dinner was perfection!
This was our "cottage", which is really just a one bedroom cabin. Heated floors, gas fire place, jacuzzi outside. It was awesome.
Heavenly!!!
 View out our front door.

Some fun colors and gorgeous scenery around the resort.
This was our view during breakfast. We both went crazy with breakfast and tried a few different items. It was so wonderful... and no kiddos! :)
This is the main building and restaurant at the resort.
We had such a wonderful time just focusing on each other and feeling like a couple... rather than always "mom and dad". It was so peaceful, tranquil, beautiful, and therapeutic. We will definitely be back!
