Boston Lee {11 months} Photo Shoot

Spring Visit

Nana and Bompa Goates came to visit us mid-March! We loved getting our new guest bedroom all set up and ready for them. Grace and Logan even made welcome signs for their door.

While they were here, we played in the backyard, played card games, built car tracks and train tracks, went antiquing, found some treat shops and ate lots of yummy things, laughed and chatted, and went out to lunch.
Get ready for a photo overload!!
 Joy Lynn's Chocolate
 Watching Moana
 Covering our A$$ets... hehe
 Ready... set... go!

Long drives are always better when holding Nana's hand.
Finding all kinds of vintage candy at Powell's Sweet Shoppe. It's always fun walking down memory lane by seeing things like Moon Pies, Neccos, Dad's Rootbeer, Cowtails, etc.
Giving Boston some Pop Rocks for the first time... thank you Daddy for that new experience...
 Building car tracks.
Our favorite part was our flumes hike!! It never disappoints. It really is so much fun to experience and it was so nice bringing my parents along finally. Having 4 adults was the only reason we felt comfortable bringing all the kids. There are some VERY sheer drop offs and scary portions, but the kids did great. The weather was so perfect - mostly cloudy, perfect temperature, and the lush greenery we saw was just gorgeous.

One of our favorite memories from this hike was when Bompa "got lost" by staying behind at one point to take photos. We kept going and then stopped to wait, but after several minutes he still hadn't come around the corner. So my mom called out to him with this funny, jibberish-sounding call that my parents have done for years. I don't even know how to describe it! haha After she does her side of the call, you're supposed to hear the other person echo the jibberish back. My mom called out, and we all waited for a few seconds in silence, waiting to hear my dad's call... But suddenly Logan yells "RED COCONUUUUUUTS!!" hahaha It was hilarious! We all burst out laughing. It was just the first thing that popped into his head. I sure love that boy and his random explosions.

The moss was just so vivid!
 Waterfalls
We saw tons and tons of salamanders... or newts, or whatever they are. They were everywhere!
These are what the flumes look like. Just about a 15" wide steel catwalk that run on top of the water flumes.
Way down below is the Feather River.

Elephant Rock. Do you see it's head/trunk?

This is the best part of the hike where it suddenly opens up. The view is incredible! And I promise you're a lot higher up than it appears in this photo.
2.5 miles into it we finally made it to what they call "Head Dam". We didn't mean to go so far (knowing it would be 5 miles round trip) but we just kept on going and going... Whoops! But the view was worth it. It's so pretty with the water actually flowing. Last time we did the hike it was the middle of a drought and there was NO water.

We had such a wonderful time with my parents visiting. We're so thankful they took the time to come play and enjoy our family and home. Love you, mom and dad!!
